Multilingual Rakugo Performances ”Yobanashi Osaka”

In December and January, a total of four Rakugo performances in English, Taiwanese, and Korean will be held in the late-night slot. The venue is Tenma-Tenjin Hanjotei, the only Kamigata Rakugo performance venue in Japan, located in front of the north gate of Osaka Tenmangu Shrine. The Hanjotei is the first Kamigata Rakugo performance venue to be revived in the Kansai region in the 60 years since the end of World War II.

Since its opening in September 2006, it has been loved by many people and has become a bustling new landmark in Osaka. Now, in an effort to introduce the appeal of Rakugo, a traditional Japanese performing art, to people outside of Japan, we are taking on the challenge of performing Rakugo in multiple languages as a new initiative. We also hope to contribute to the revitalization of Osaka's night economy. We look forward to seeing you all at the event!
