Hamaderakoen Station Building

This station was designed by Tatsuno Kingo (1854–1919), the architect behind Tokyo Station and Osaka’s Central Public Hall. This station, the oldest owned by a private railway and one of the few still in operation from the Meiji era, is registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property and features gorgeous geometric designs in its pillars and beams. Garnering approval in the world of academic architecture as well, the structure is the pride of Sakai.
