The exhibition, titled \u201cReopening! The Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka (MOCO),\u201d has a separate Japanese title of \u201cShin-Toyo, the MOCO Collection.\u201d The word Shin represents three different meanings: newness, truth, and heart. These three homophones symbolize the MOCO\u2019s major objectives: to take a path toward transforming itself into a \u201cnew\u201d museum, to introduce \u201ctrue\u201d art to the visitors, and to provide exciting museum experiences that touch the \u201chearts\u201d of the visitors. \r\nThe MOCO collection focuses on Chinese ceramics from the Han to Ming dynasties and Korean ceramics from the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties, as well as Japanese ceramics from the Nara to Edo periods mainly collected through purchases. The collection also includes some modern and contemporary ceramics. This exhibition features approximately 380 masterpieces, including two National Treasures and 13 Important Cultural Properties, organized into 13 themes. The exhibition showcases the appeal of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese ceramics, both traditional and modern.
