Set in<\/span><\/span><br \/><span dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"\" dir=\"auto\">the 12th century during the reign of an emperor, it\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\" dir=\"auto\">tells the story of 108 heroes who,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\" dir=\"auto\">dissatisfied with the corrupt regime ,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"\" dir=\"auto\">gather together.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p>&#8220;Water Margin&#8221; became a huge hit in Edo-period Japan, and new stories and artistic expressions were developed by artists such as Kyokutei Bakin, Katsushika Hokusai, and Utagawa Kuniyoshi.
