More Information:From Saturday, November 15, 2025 to Sunday, December 14, 2025, the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka, will present a solo exhibition by Kim Mitsuo, co-hosted with the Kansai-Osaka 21st Century Association. This is the 10th installment of the “Osaka Directory Supported by RICHARD MILLE” series, which introduces young artists with ties to the Kansai region. This exhibition marks the artist’s first solo exhibition in his hometown of Osaka.

Kim Mitsuo has been garnering attention for his artwork using wax (paraffin) and silkscreen prints since he was a student. In recent years, he has greatly broadened his range of expression, taking on large-scale three-dimensional art projects. His use of wax takes advantage of its properties—melting or hardening according to temperature, becoming either clear or opaque in the process. Furthermore, in this show, the artist focuses on performing the slide guitar method, in which sounds are made by sliding over the guitar strings. The smooth transitions of wax and the tones produced by using the slide guitar method, freely traversing musical scales, correspond to how people fluctuate between multiple places and identities. Through these phenomena, the exhibition creates a space for contemplating the lives of people who cross boundaries.
