More information:This exhibition brings together works by four female painters from the Sanno Art Museum’s collection: Uemura Shōen, Marie Laurencin, Migishi Setsuko, and Kataoka Tamako . The gender gap remains a major issue even in 2025. Even more so than 100 years ago, when these women aspired to become painters, the art world was more male-dominated than it is today, making it extremely difficult for women to pursue artistic careers with high aspirations. Despite these circumstances, these women lived resilient and resilient lives, and their vibrant, passionate, and unique works are sure to inspire courage and energy for us living today. Please enjoy these works, which can only be found at the Sanno Art Museum.
